About the firm
Big-firm rigor, without the big firm.
Oakmont Tax Consulting is a Philadelphia Main Line CPA firm specializing in tax preparation, planning, and notice resolution for physicians, business owners, and professionals, serving clients locally and nationwide.
Experience that started at the top.
Ryan Langan is a Pennsylvania CPA who worked at a multinational public accounting firm, then managed corporate tax in-house at the world's largest business software company, where his work included the resolution of more than 1,000 notices from hundreds of tax jurisdictions. He founded Oakmont Tax to bring that depth to individuals and closely held businesses.
During his time in public accounting, Ryan prepared returns for every kind of client, from billionaire sports-team owners to retired W-2 earners. The work spanned partnerships, S corporations, single-member LLCs, trusts, estates, and nonprofit compliance.
In-house, the scope widened: corporate tax compliance across numerous subsidiaries, international filings, and a steady stream of notices from federal, state, and local authorities. Each one was resolved, documented, and closed.
Ryan started Oakmont Tax because he knew there was more he could offer businesses and individuals than a large firm ever could. Whatever your situation, the aim is the same: help you make the right long-term decisions and take the stress out of tax season.
How we work
Four things you can count on.
Every Oakmont engagement runs on the same four commitments: plain language, year-round availability, discretion, and judgment built on real experience. They are the reason clients stay.
Plain language, always
We explain the why, not just the what. You'll understand every decision on your return, and why it serves you.
A relationship, not a transaction
We're reachable year-round: for the notice, the question, the move or sale you didn't see coming.
Discretion as standard
Your information is handled with the confidentiality your situation deserves. Carefully and thoroughly, every time.
Built on real experience
Thousands of returns and notices across jurisdictions, brought to bear on the particulars of yours.
FAQ
Common questions.
Straight answers to what prospective clients ask most: who does the work, whether we're taking on clients, and how remote engagements run.
Who will actually prepare my return?
Ryan Langan, CPA, MTax prepares every return personally. Nothing is passed to a seasonal preparer or an offshore processing team. The person you meet on the first call is the person who does the work, and the one who answers when a question comes up in July.
Is Oakmont Tax accepting new clients?
Yes. We take on a limited number of new individual and business clients each year so that service stays personal. The first step is a short note through the contact form, so we can review your situation and confirm the fit before either side commits.
What credentials does Ryan Langan hold?
Ryan is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Pennsylvania. He holds a B.S. in Accounting & Finance from Saint Joseph's University, plus a Master of Taxation and a Certificate in State and Local Taxation, both from Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law.
Do you work with clients remotely?
Yes. Oakmont Tax works with clients nationwide through a secure portal, electronic signatures, and scheduled video or phone calls. Most engagements run start to finish without ever meeting in person, and multi-state and out-of-state returns are routine. When a local client prefers to sit down together, Ryan comes to you.
What happens after I reach out?
Your message comes straight to us, and we read every one personally. You will hear back within one business day with honest thoughts on whether and how we can help. If it looks like a fit, the next step is a short introductory call to talk through your situation and what working together would look like.
