Who we serve
Different situations, the same care.
Oakmont Tax works with physicians, business owners, real estate investors, professional services firms, and new high earners, both on the Philadelphia Main Line and remotely in all 50 states. These are the areas where we've built real depth. If you see yourself below, you're in good hands. If you don't, talk to us anyway. Complicated is what we do.
New High Earners
The career is hitting its stride: income up, equity comp vesting, maybe a first rental property or a K-1 in the mix. A return that was simple last year suddenly is not. We bring order to the new complexity, plan the years ahead, and make sure the decisions that matter most get made early.
Small & Medium-Sized Businesses
Tax preparation isn't anyone's idea of a good time, and small-business tax gets particularly thorny. We manage it on your behalf: returns, elections, and the questions in between. Your time stays free for the priorities only you can attend to.
Real Estate Investors
Whether you're a broker with an entire office or you hold a few rental properties, this is familiar ground. With deep expertise in rentals, sales, depreciation, and 1031 exchanges, we help you keep more of what you make.
Professional Services Firms
Even attorneys and consultants find dealing with the IRS less than pleasant. We handle your firm's income tax matters and steer you clear of penalties, fines, and time-consuming audits, preserving your time and effort for your clients.
Busy Professionals
Has your "simple" return grown far more complex than you expected? Ditch the at-home software that lacks the analysis and expertise your situation deserves. Equity compensation, multiple states, a side business: this is where we begin.
Doctors & Medical Professionals
Physicians are well compensated for their dedication to others, and that compensation brings a thicket of financial and tax challenges across a career. We help you structure your income, entities, and long-term tax liabilities as efficiently as possible, from residency through practice ownership.
Common questions
Questions we hear from new clients
Straight answers on fit, location, and how the work gets done. If your question isn't covered here, a short note through the contact form is the fastest way to get an answer.
Is Oakmont Tax only for physicians?
No. Physician and medical-practice tax is our deepest specialty, but the firm works daily with business owners, real estate investors, professional services firms, and new high earners. The common thread is complexity, not job title. If your tax picture has outgrown simple, you fit here.
Do I need to be near the Philadelphia Main Line to work with you?
No. Oakmont Tax is a Philadelphia Main Line practice serving clients in all 50 states. Documents move through a secure portal, and meetings happen by video or phone. Distance changes nothing about the quality or pace of the work.
When does it make sense to move from tax software to a CPA?
When your return stops being simple: a practice or business, equity compensation, rental property, income in multiple states, or a large one-time event. Software fills in boxes after the year is over. A CPA structures decisions while they can still change the outcome.
Can you handle both my business and personal returns?
Yes, and it is usually the better arrangement. Entity choice, owner compensation, and distributions all flow through to your individual return, so preparing both under one roof keeps the strategy consistent. It also means one advisor is accountable for the whole picture.
Do you work with medical practices, or only individual physicians?
Both. We advise employed physicians on compensation, moonlighting income, and multi-state filings, and practice owners on entity selection, owner pay, and year-round planning. Practice and personal returns are prepared together so nothing falls between them.
What if my situation isn't listed on this page?
Talk to us anyway. These categories are the situations we see most often, not a boundary. The firm's background spans partnerships, S corporations, trusts, estates, and international filings, along with more than 1,000 resolved tax notices. If your tax life is complicated, it belongs here.
Don't see yourself on the list?
These are simply the situations we see most often. If your tax life is complicated in a way we haven't named, that's precisely the kind of knot we like to untangle. Start with a short note through the contact form, and we'll reply within one business day.
